President Cruises operates five sister ships on the Yangtze: President 1 through President 8 (with President 2, 4, 6, and 8 being the newer builds). Important logistics note: The closet interior wall is not flat—there is a fire suppression sprinkler pipe running along the back edge, reducing the effective depth by 5 cm on the left side. Pack accordingly: flat items (folded dress shirts) should go on the right half of the shelf.

ExecutiveCabin (Junior Suite) – Additional Storage

Executive cabins add a separate wardrobe unit near the entry, separate from the main closet. This unit measures 40 cm wide, 50 cm deep, and 110 cm high, with one shelf and a small hanging rod for shorter items (e.g., jackets, blouses). The main closet dimensions are identical to the deluxe cabin, so the net increase in hanging capacity is about 40% more linear inches. Every piece of luggage you bring undergoes a brief journey through the port’s internal baggage handling system. At Chongqing Chaotianmen Port, passengers drop off bags at the pier-side check-in tent, where porters load them onto electric carts that run 200 meters to the ship’s gangway. The cart’s cargo bed measures 90 cm x 60 cm x 70 cm. Hard-sided spinner suitcases larger than 28 inches (76 cm height) will not fit upright; they must be laid flat, which takes up two slots and delays loading. Soft-sided duffels are preferred by porters because they compress to fill the cart bed without wasted air space.

At Yichang Maoping, the port’s escalator from the waiting hall to the immigration area is 110 cm wide. A suitcase pulled upright with its handle extended adds 15 cm to the width—if your bag exceeds 45 cm in thickness (wheels + body), it will catch the escalator side panel. You can swap out 2 or 3, but not all 7, because the ship’s hangers are tethered to a wooden bar that prevents removal. If you bring your own hangers, bring at least 4 to cover the daily use garments. Do not rely on the cabin’s desk drawer space for anything larger than a passport. The deluxe cabin’s single drawer measures 42 cm x 30 cm x 8 cm—the exact dimensions of a hotel-size safe deposit box. A standard 13-inch laptop (30.5 cm x 21.3 cm x 1.5 cm) fits, but only if placed diagonally. For a 15-inch laptop, you must use the safe (see presidential suite dimensions above) or keep it in your suitcase. The desk’s pull-out writing surface (if present) is only 22 cm deep – a full A4 sheet will overhang by 7 cm. Use the desk as a staging area, not storage. If you must keep paper documents organized, bring a single lightweight accordion folder (28 cm x 20 cm standing) and place it on the shelf above the hanging rail; it will stand upright without tipping if you tuck it between two folded sweaters.

You hand your main suitcase to a porter at the terminal. It is tagged with a cabin number card (similar to airline bag tags) and placed on a numbered pallet. The pallet is loaded onto a conveyor belt that slopes to the ship’s baggage hold (deck 1, forward). President ships have a dedicated baggage room with metal racks, not a cargo hold.
